Although some of Bella’s looks are quite out there and almost intimidating, Aiysha felt great in them.
Towards the end of her week-long project, Aiysha discovered that it’s not all about who is wearing the clothes and what body type they have, but the confidence they exude.
“A lot of the time, it’s not about what you’re wearing,” she said in an interview for WBUR. “It’s about how you feel and what you’re wearing. Obviously, that was something I tried to portray when I recreated it.”
Aiysha received lots of love online after posting about her Bella story. Bella saw it herself and told Aiysha that she was “obsessed” with her outfit recreations on Instagram. Since then, other celebrities have been loving her project, like Lizzo and Lil Nas X.
Of course, with most viral internet stories, Aiysha did receive some backlash from people who believe that the kind of clothes Bella wears should not be worn on plus-size bodies.
Aiysha elegantly responded in a TikTok video, saying, “Clothes are fun. Clothes are supposed to be something we experiment with and explore, and we should wear whatever we think feels good for us and is exciting. And that’s what I like to do.”
Which celebrity should Aiysha dress like next?
