Suddenly, one of her friends approached their table to say hello.
“During that conversation, the friend asks about her daughter,” he said. “At first, I thought it was some kind of an inside joke or something but nope. They really were talking about her daughter [who] I had no idea existed ’til now.”
That was certainly unexpected! When her friend left the table, he was in shock and asked his girlfriend about her daughter. She nonchalantly told him yes, that she was 12-years-old, and gave him her name.
When he started to freak out a bit and asked her why she never told him, she said, “I don’t owe you every single detail of my life.”
“This isn’t how she normally speaks,” he added. “The whole thing seemed so bizarre. I couldn’t wrap my head around it at all. She has major guilt about who pays for dates, but she hid having a kid like it’s nothing?”
She excused herself to go to the bathroom while he sat there, shocked. The longer he sat, the angrier he became. Finally, to avoid making a scene, he got up and left. However, he left her with a $500-600 bill to pay. As angry text messages flooded in from her that night, he didn’t feel guilty at all. But the next day, he received a long message explaining her side of the story. So now, he’s experiencing some guilt.
Do you think he should help her pay the expensive dinner bill, or was he justified in walking off and paying nothing?
