He could tell his parents were holding back the full extent of their excitement so they wouldn’t further upset anyone.

“The whole evening ended on a slightly poor note, and we all left soon afterward,” he recalled.

Now, he and his girlfriend feel guilty for announcing the pregnancy when they did and worry that they sprung the news on his brother insensitively. 

His dad told him not to worry and that his brother and his girlfriend acted rude and selfishly.
