He did reveal that his sister-in-law never actually grabbed the wheel. But, the reaching was still enough to scare him. So, after a while, he decided to just put his foot down. More specifically, he pulled up to a Park and Ride bus stop and handed over his personal bus pass– which had enough money to get his sister-in-law home.
Then, he told his sister-in-law to get out of the car, take bus number 37, and what stop to get off at. Afterward, he just left his sister-in-law at the bus stop and drove home.
While it might have felt good to ditch his sister-in-law at the time, though, all of his in-laws are now really furious with him. His wife was even upset with him too. But thankfully, his wife did calm down after he explained what had happened in the car.
“And my wife knows her sister well,” he said.
Nonetheless, his wife still thinks that he could have warned his sister-in-law before pulling over and dumping her at the bus stop. So now, he has been left wondering whether dropping his sister-in-law off after the backseat driving incident made him a jerk or not.
Is backseat driving dangerous? Do you think he had a right to drop his sister-in-law off? Or should he have provided a warning first? What would you have done in this situation?
