Her Aunts Expect Her To Share Her Inheritance With Them, But She Doesn’t Want To

“[Mom] had two life insurance policies, both of which went only to my brother and me,” she added.

“She also left us the house and her car. Basically, everything was split between my brother and me, and no one else got anything.”

Her aunts believe it’s unfair they didn’t get anything after her mother died and that they deserve some of the money.

Her brother became so frustrated with their aunts’ aggression that he decided to cut off contact with them. He’s encouraging her to do the same, but she doesn’t want to cut off any family. She’s just unsure of how to reason with her aunts.

“I also feel strongly that if my mother wanted them to get money, she would have left them something,” she said.

“But she didn’t. She chose to leave everything to my brother and me. My aunts are saying that my mother did that because she assumed we would share.”

She feels that she would have known if her mom had planned on giving anything to her aunts before she passed. However, there was no mention of it. So now, instead of coming together to grieve her mother, there is a ton of tension between these family members.

Do you think she should give her aunts any of her inheritance?
