Early in the moving process, David asked him if he’d like to buy some of his designer clothes that he doesn’t want to take with them, and he said no. Then, something unexpected happened.
“Fast forward to four days ago, I went over to my aunt’s house to pick up some of my things and help her pack,” he recalled.
“That’s when she gave me a Gucci jacket, saying it was one of David’s that he was trying to sell but couldn’t find a buyer for. She told me to take it.”
He assumed that his aunt and David discussed giving him the jacket beforehand, so he took it. Then, the next day, David called up himself and called him a thief, accusing him of stealing the jacket.
He told him he might press charges against him.
“Though I have no problem taking back the jacket, David has already told me he expects an apology, and my aunt agrees,” he added. “I don’t feel I need to apologize as I thought the jacket was a going away gift to me.”
After some consideration, he’s decided to invite only his aunt to dinner so he can return the jacket and talk with her about David’s behavior.
How do you think his aunt will react?
