So, he wound up just checking her location– which they share with each other for safety reasons. After all, his girlfriend usually responds to texts quite quickly, so her silence was really uncharacteristic.
Upon checking her location, though, he realized that Cora was at one of her friend’s houses. That pushed him to reach out to the friend and ask if they had seen his girlfriend because he had a birthday surprise all set up for her.
Well, he ultimately found out that Cora’s friends had made plans for her birthday. But they just decided not to tell him because they thought he would “ruin the surprise” and wanted to keep the whole thing “a complete secret.”
Apparently, his girlfriend and her friends had lunch. Then, they had plans to go out to a few bars and celebrate afterward.
It was only after he reached out to Cora’s friend, though, that he got invited to celebrate with them as well.
“But I declined out of politeness and not wanting to crash their plans since Cora sees her friends rarely outside of work,” he explained.
He then decided to text his girlfriend, telling her to have a fun night with her friends. He also mentioned how he would see her once she got home– because he had a cake waiting at home for Cora.
Afterward, he thought nothing of the whole thing and went to hang out with a few of his own friends while he waited for his girlfriend.
But, later that night, things took a drastic turn. Once Cora arrived home, she was furious that he had turned down her friend’s invitation to the celebration. She also claimed that she wanted to see him on her birthday along with all of her friends.
Quite frankly, though, he really did not think that was a big deal– especially because he saw Cora in the morning as well as after she arrived home. Plus, he admitted that the invite did not really feel genuine, anyway.
“The invite felt like an afterthought when she had all the time during the day to invite me, and she didn’t,” he vented.
