She called out Hannah and Sam, reminding them that they have no control over who her plus-one is. All of their other friends had no issue with her boyfriend going.
Hannah used a lot of strange reasons to support her opinion, saying things like “It’s a wedding, not a vacation,” telling her it would be inappropriate for Mariah’s boyfriend to be there and that she should see him in her “free time” instead.
Two weeks after the initial conflict, Hannah asked Mariah if she was still attending the wedding. She told her she’d only go if her boyfriend would be welcome. Then, Hannah told her she could bring her boyfriend but that he would have to be excluded from all of the activities.
Her boyfriend wouldn’t be able to ride in the van with them, join them for dinners, go on the beach with them, etc.
“He would only be allowed to attend the wedding, nothing more,” she explained. “So I canceled. I contacted the bride and told her something came up.”
She eventually told Mary what had happened, and she was shocked. She hasn’t heard from Hannah since the wedding.
Do you think she should still go to the wedding? If she does, should she still bring her boyfriend?
