When the young man approached the property’s landlord, he was asked how he knew everybody. Then, he introduced the older couple and his parents, and her as his sister. What?
She wanted to flee at that moment but was unsure what to do. She couldn’t drive, and who knows what these people would do once she ran?
“The landlord had trouble opening the lock, which was really weird and creepy,” she recalled. “Then, as the door opens, there’s people’s furniture and other belongings everywhere. Someone was still living there but just wasn’t home.”
Her stomach turned as the young guy kept referring to her as his sister throughout the house tour. When they hit a specific hallway in the house, a cat who had clearly been staying there ran across the floor, terrified, like they were intruders.
It gave her very bad vibes. She decided to book it out of there. She frantically told the landlord that the guy had lied about her being his sister and ran out of the house.
As she ran down the street, she could hear the landlord yelling for her to come back. She called her mom on the phone, who drove over to her as fast as possible. Thankfully, the neighborhood she was taken to was right near her cousin’s house, so her mom knew where to find her.
“If it wasn’t for that cat giving me a realization of what I was doing there, I don’t know where I’d be or if I’d be alive,” she explained. “The young guy didn’t follow me home, but silver BMWs still terrify me to this day.”
She added that she would no longer consider rooming with someone she doesn’t know.
