She made eye contact with him, and he went up to her, saying, “Hey, it’s great to see you. How’s your day going?”
Still trying to understand whether or not this guy was Steve, she decided to ask him. He said no and that his name was Stefan.
“I’m thinking, like, is that the same in England?” Anne Marie explains.
The names are not the same, and after Anne Marie asked this guy specifically whether or not he was the Steve she met on a dating app that was supposed to meet her there, he charmingly said, “No, but clearly Steve is late, and I would never make you wait, so you should ditch him and come get coffee with me.”
She felt guilty for ditching Steve, but at that point, so much time had passed that she was convinced Steve wasn’t coming. Anne Marie messaged Steve apologizing, saying she didn’t know where he was and was leaving. She ended up getting coffee with Stefan!
Her afternoon with Stefan was lovely. First, they got coffee together, and then he showed her around the neighborhood, bringing her to local private gardens. When she thought there would be no sign of Steve, she notices a man sprinting down the street while she’s walking arm-and-arm with Stefan. Sure enough, it was Steve, presumably rushing to the coffee shop to see her.
“Steve, if you’re watching this, I’m still so sorry, but alas,” says Annie Marie.
Isn’t that a great story?
