The surgery was scheduled for November. However, John fell out of a tree, breaking both his heel bones and part of his vertebrae. As a result, he was wheelchair-bound for six weeks.
Of course, the surgery for the kidney transplant had to be postponed, and the new date was for February. When that day came, the surgery went without a hitch, and the next day, Delaney finally spilled the beans.
In a video posted to TikTok, you can view John’s reaction to his daughter’s news as she walked into his recovery room wearing a hospital gown with an IV stand trailing behind her. The video has amassed over five million views.
Healthcare coverage in the U.S. is rudimentary at best, and the costs for something as serious as a kidney transplant are astronomical.
So Delaney has taken to GoFundMe to raise money for her family during this tough time to help cover the medical bills.
