After She Saw What Her Cousin Did To Their Grandma’s Heirloom Engagement Ring, She Said She Ruined It

“What she showed us was a gargantuan, tacky engagement ring and wedding band set,” she recalled.

The new ring was so extravagant and different that she thought Amy had chosen a different ring to wear, but Amy explained that it technically was their grandmother’s ring but that she had gotten it redesigned.

Because John didn’t spend any money on the original ring, she asked him if they could “upgrade it” to her liking.

One of the original diamonds from the ring was still there, and the material that made the band was melted down to form a new one. Other things were added to make it look like an entirely new ring.

“I burst into tears,” she said.

“I was so shocked and hurt. I told her she destroyed our grandparents’ heirloom. If she wanted a giant diamond to wear every day, that’s her choice, but the ring was important to our family. “

Amy got angry with her, and she and Jane eventually left the hotel room so she could cool down. She was certainly the most distraught over the ordeal, as Jane figured nothing could be done about the ring at that point.

When she saw their grandmother at the wedding, she told her what had happened with the ring, and she seemed disappointed but chose not to make a fuss over it.

What really upsets her is that she believes that her grandmother wouldn’t have given the ring to John if she knew that he and Amy would completely redesign it.

Throughout the wedding, there was tension between her and her cousins. Amy wants an apology for her outburst in the hotel room.

However, she doesn’t feel that what she said was wrong in any capacity and is having a hard time forgiving Amy for what she did to a family heirloom.
