Ernie also loved rocking back and forth in a chair with Gertrude in his arms as he told her stories of his childhood.
Whenever he wasn’t feeling well, Gertrude and some of their other animals snuggled in his lap as he sat on the couch and watched television.
In his memory, the Taylor family would like to expand their animal rescue and officially name it “Poppy’s Place.” They’ve created a GoFundMe page where fans of their content can donate to help make their dreams come true.
“Poppy believed that all animals deserved a chance at rehabilitation,” wrote his family on the GoFundMe page.
“His duck, chicken, and geese rescue was one of the things that brought him true joy. We believe this is the best way to honor his legacy, allowing Poppy to provide happy living situations for animals in need even after his departure from our world.”
It’s amazing to see the joy that the videos of Ernie and Gertrude gave to others, and our condolences go out to his family – including Gertrude.
