“She apologized and said she could remake them for free, but they wouldn’t be ready until Sunday. I said, unfortunately, I’m expecting my guests tomorrow, and Sunday is no good.”
She then told Claire that she wouldn’t be paying for the cupcakes since there were no edible ones to take home for her party.
However, Claire said she should still be paid for all the money she had to spend on ingredients for the cupcakes. She reminded Claire it was her dog that caused the cupcakes to be destroyed and that if she had more control over the dog, none of this would have happened.
Eventually, she left without paying Claire.
She revealed her baby’s gender to her family in person without cupcakes and still made some lovely memories. However, now she’s starting to wonder if she should’ve handled the situation with Claire differently and given her some money.
Although she still doesn’t think she should’ve had to pay for damaged cupcakes, she understands that, as a small business owner, the loss of profit could hurt Claire.
Should she give Claire any money for the cupcakes even though she couldn’t use them?
