The video showed Lashaya in the East Montview Boulevard and North Peoria Street area during the early hours. At the time, she was wearing a pair of black stonewash jeans, a black v-neck shirt, hoop earrings, and a silver watch.
Several witnesses would later report spotting Lashaya in the Colfax Avenue area as well. However, what exactly happened to the teen afterward has remained a mystery.
Back at home, Lashaya left behind her phone charger, wallet, and clothes– signaling to her loved ones that she never intended to stay away from home for long. Nonetheless, she has remained missing for over six years, and they have continued searching for answers.
Prior to retiring in 2020, former Police Chief Nick Metz shared his upset with the stagnation in Lashaya’s case.
“That’s one that I had hoped and prayed that I would be able to give her family an answer of where she is. I can’t imagine waking up every day not knowing where my daughter is and how she’s doing,” Metz said.
“That, for me, right now, is my biggest regret, and I take that personally. And I take responsibility for that.”
At the time of her disappearance, Lashaya was five foot six, weighed 150 pounds, and had a round, quarter-sized scar on her chest. She usually wore her hair in a bun and would be 23 years old today.
