A few seconds later, she heard another knock. So she got out of bed to check who was at the door. But when she looked through the peephole, no one was in sight, and the hallway was empty.
Khali made sure the door was locked and went back to sleep. Later in the day, she woke up again to check out of the hotel and discovered that her door was unlocked!
Like most other hotel rooms, her room required a key card to gain access to it, and the door could only be locked from the inside.
She knew for a fact that her door was locked before going to sleep because she had double and triple-checked it. Now freaked out, Khali rushed out of the hotel as quickly as possible and headed to her car. Fortunately, she made it home safely.
It didn’t dawn on her until the day after that she had only received one key card when she checked in to the hotel.
Whenever she stayed at that particular hotel, she was usually given two key cards regardless of whether she was alone or not.
Thankfully, Khali had the foresight to barricade her doors!
