She politely asked Sia to stop, and she said she would. She had hoped that would be the end of the discussion, but she knew Sia was continuing to steal her things when a body butter she hadn’t even used herself was suddenly half-empty.
Not knowing what else to do, she took the fridge to a local hardware store so a combination lock could be placed on it. While it was at the store for a few days, Sia asked where it was, and she had to lie about getting it repaired.
Once she got the fridge back, she set the combination for the lock and ensured Sia wouldn’t find out what it was.
Then, Sia began asking if she could borrow some lotion. Instead of waiting for her to get it out, Sia asked what the code to the lock was.
This happened on multiple occasions, and she resisted giving Sia the combination every time. However, the other day, Sia had an outburst.
“She lost it and started going off at me about how terrible I was for not trusting her and that nothing about my stupid fridge was so special,” she recalled.
“I just kept on insisting that I could do whatever I want with my fridge, and now she isn’t talking to me.”
How should she handle the situation with her roommate?
