“I also don’t like the idea of having my dog in public without me, and I also need my dog for my own seizures,” she added.
After she explained all of this to her sister, though, her sister just became pretty upset and tried to claim that her niece would only have her dog for a couple of hours.
Her sister also told her that she should be more than willing to help out her loved ones since her family was always there to help her while she grew up.
Now, at that point, she decided to just call her mom for a second opinion. But while her mom did agree with her, it became clear that her mom also did not want to upset her sister.
So, her mom ultimately told her that she should just let her niece use her service dog for a few hours.
She did wind up consulting her boyfriend for advice, too. And thankfully, he did take her side.
However, ever since she turned down her sister’s request, everyone in her family has not stopped calling her and accusing her of being selfish.
So now, she’s been left wondering whether refusing to allow her niece to borrow her service dog for a birthday trip to the mall actually makes her a jerk or not.
Can you understand why she is hesitant about “lending” her service dog to her niece? Should service animals ever be shared or borrowed? What if she needed her service dog while it wasn’t there? Do you think she made the right call by not letting her niece borrow her service pup?
