Most of the TikTok users defended the nurse in the comments section, asking the mom if she had made her plans known to the nurses.
Some others pointed out that nurses work long hours, so that nurse probably just made an honest mistake.
In a follow-up video, the mom clarified that everyone knew what was going on, including the labor and delivery team, the night nurses, and the day-shift nurses.
“We wanted to do things a little different, just because this was our last kid, so we wanted to kind of surprise them in a different way, so we thought we’d all wait to find out the gender,” she explained.
The mom then went on to say that she didn’t think the nurse purposely ruined the surprise. But even so, she was still extremely upset that the secret she had kept for nine months was spilled in a split second.
In the end, she acknowledged that all that matters is that her baby is healthy and loved.
