This shocked her husband, too. However, since the dinner was not very expensive, she and her husband just paid the tab without saying anything to her in-laws.
Yet, a few weeks later, the same thing happened. And that time, her in-laws had invited her and her husband out to a “moderately expensive” restaurant they had all visited before as a group.
Still, she and her husband declined to say anything. Well, that was until her husband was on the phone with his mom recently.
Apparently, while they were talking, her husband decided to mention how she had just received an award at work. At that point, her mother-in-law immediately suggested that they all visit a super fancy restaurant to celebrate over dinner.
She pretty much knew how that meal would end, though, and decided to finally say something.
“I quietly asked if we were going to have to pay for it, and my husband started glaring daggers at me,” she recalled.
Now, she claimed that her in-laws did not actually hear her say that. However, they found out what she had said from her husband– who wound up calling her rude.
Still, she stood her ground and told her husband that they should not have to pay every time her in-laws just wanted to go out to dinner.
She also pointed out how her husband’s parents were just trying to use her award– which she claims was not a huge deal at all– to eat a fancy dinner.
Her husband claimed that they could afford it, though; meanwhile, his parents just could not.
So, he wound up accusing her of being a jerk for refusing to pay for them. Plus, after her husband spoke to his parents later on, he revealed how she had embarrassed her in-laws and made them feel like they were mooching.
