Eventually, her grandma then made a confession and admitted how, even though she would always love her grandpa, her grandma never truly forgave him for the affair.
Then, by the end of the conversation, her grandma claimed to have told her because she “seemed strong” and had earned her grandma’s trust.
“And I would know how to live with this information,” she added.
Quite frankly, though, she has been having a hard time processing the whole secret ever since finding out about it.
For her entire life, she had always looked up to her grandparents– because she believed they were the true role models when it came to a happy marriage.
After all, her grandma and grandpa were married for nearly 65 years. And whenever she saw them, she thought they always displayed real affection for each other.
Now that she knows her grandpa’s biggest secret, though, she is worried it will alter her memory of him.
“My grandma seemed like a very nice and correct person, and I’m afraid this information will change the way I remember him,” she admitted.
How would you feel if your grandma revealed such a big secret to you? Can you understand why her grandma might have needed someone to talk to after keeping that secret for all those years? Do you think there’s a way she can remember her grandpa without knowledge of the affair tainting her fond memories?
