Next, pour two and a half cups of water into a pot. Add a quarter teaspoon of cream of tartar and one-eighth teaspoon of salt.
As you can see, very little salt is needed for this lemonade recipe. Bring the mixture to a boil, then pour it over the lemons.
Allow the lemons to sit in the mixture for about five to ten minutes before straining them through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl or pitcher.
The salt makes the lemons taste sweeter and cuts any bitterness out. In addition, the cream of tartar gives the lemonade an extra tarty flavor.
