The other night when he was at his sister’s house for dinner, Josh started talking about his upcoming high school prom and asked if he could borrow his Challenger that night. He told Josh that he wasn’t comfortable letting him take his car but that he’d happily drive him and his date to the prom in the car. He also offered to wear a suit and hat like an official chauffeur.
However, Josh threw a fit and told him he’d probably let Sarah take the car if she asked. He wanted to be honest, so he admitted to Josh that if Sarah did ask for the car, he’d probably consider it because she’s a more experienced driver.
“I told him I feel he has not been driving long enough to be able to control this car and that I would be worried for his and his date’s safety,” he remembered.
He certainly does not play favorites with Josh and Sarah, as he and Josh bond over many other things besides cars. They play video games with each other every night, and he’s even built Josh a custom PC.
Josh has shown a lot of interest in tech, and he encourages him to keep it up and tells him he can work at his tech business in the future. He gives a lot to Josh, but when it comes to taking his car without him present, he can’t go through with it.
Josh hasn’t spoken to him since their argument, and his sister and brother-in-law think he was rude for saying what he did about Sarah. However, he believes he did the right thing by telling Josh the truth.
Do you think he was right, to be honest with Josh, or should he let him take the car to prom?
