She And Her Husband Want To Ask For Their $400 Baby Shower Gift Back After Their Friend Suffered A Miscarriage

Additionally, she found it strange that Jen opted to send out a registry since she assumed Jen would still have most of the items from the first baby shower.

“I didn’t think people usually did full-blown baby showers and registries after their first,” she said.

Regardless, she just left the gift up to her husband– letting him do whatever he wanted. Still, she made sure to mention her surprise about the second baby and pointed out how Jen had already gotten brand new stuff not that long before.

Despite that, her husband still opted to spend about $400 on a gift for Jen’s second baby. And apparently, she was fine with that.

But then, just a few weeks later, Jen suffered a traumatic miscarriage. And while she did not discuss specifics, Jen found out that the loss likely meant she would never be able to carry any future pregnancies to term.

So, Jen was understandably devastated. And even though she was not exactly close with Jen, she knew the situation was extremely sad, and her “heart hurt” for the other mom.

Since Jen’s miscarriage was now a few months ago, however, she and her husband have something else on their mind– what to do about the second baby shower gift.

She knows that the present they bought for Jen cannot be used for Jen’s older child. But she also realizes that asking Jen to return the gift would probably be cruel. Not to mention the return window has probably closed, anyway.

“I’m also not sure if Jen’s going to keep trying to have more kids– very risky for the baby and herself– and it seems incredibly insensitive to ask,” she added.

“Plus, Jen may not have decided yet.”

But while she acknowledged that asking Jen to pay them back for the gift seemed cruel, too, she claimed that $400 was still a lot of money– even if she and her husband are “decently high earners.”
