She Had To Ask Her Friend Not To Attend Her Wedding As A Bridesmaid Or Even A Guest Because She’s Highly Allergic To Her Emotional Support Dog

“I pull her aside again and tell her that I just can’t be in the same room as Spud,” she remembered.

“She mentions she already bought him a little suit for the wedding, and I inform her there’s just no way he can come. My ceremony is in a tiny church, and he and I will inevitably be in close proximity.”

Then, she and Amy got into a long conversation about Spud’s role as her emotional support dog. While she understands mental health’s importance and appreciates that Spud helps her friend when it comes to her wedding, she doesn’t want to feel so sick from having him there.

Amy asked her if she’d feel differently about having Spud at her wedding if he was more like a service dog that was there in case she had a seizure or medical emergency.

She said she’d have to think about it, and Amy said that was an example of ableism. Amy also said Spud’s role was just as important as a service dog.

She asked Amy if Spud could stay outside during the ceremony with her partner or someone else. Spud could then join her at the reception, which will be outside.

Instead of considering her proposal, Amy asked if she could take an antihistamine before the wedding. She told her no since they tend to make her groggy, and of course, she wants to be alert for the ceremony.

After going back and forth for a while, she and Amy couldn’t find a compromise. Finally, she told Amy that if she truly does have to be close to Spud at all times, she does not want her to attend the wedding.

Unfortunately, this decision led to a bunch of drama within the bridal party. Amy told a bunch of people, including the rest of her bridesmaids, that she was uninvited.

Another bridesmaid dropped out of the wedding upon hearing the news. Everyone else has mixed feelings about the situation.

Amy and the other bridesmaid Venmo requested the money back for their dresses and Spud’s clothes, and she gave it to them so as not to cause any more drama.

Although she hoped everything would cool down, they’re still going around and talking to guests about what happened.
