If she were one of Lillian’s bridesmaids, she’d have to go with her to dress appointments, help host a bridal shower, attend hair and makeup appointments, set up the bachelorette party, assist with wedding preparations, etc.
With her busy work schedule, there’s no way she’d be able to do it all. What makes the situation tricky is that Lillian expects each of her bridesmaids to put in all of that effort.
She asked Lillian if she could be a bridesmaid but only attend the ceremony because of work, and she said no. Lillian and Harold freaked out when she told Lillian that she couldn’t be a bridesmaid in their wedding because of the commitment.
They made her feel like she was in the wrong and her brother doesn’t understand her work schedule’s severity and unpredictability.
“Because I was trying to make up for not being able to be a bridesmaid, I offered to pay for Lillian’s hair and makeup separately from my gift,” she said.
However, that wasn’t good enough for Lillian and her brother. They’re still angry at her and think she should “change her mind” about being a bridesmaid.
To make matters worse, other family members are getting involved in the argument, and many are siding with Harold and Lillian.
Should Lillian and Harold be cutting her some slack?
