Her mom was especially upset that she never got an apology out of Ned, Jack, or Ned’s wife, so her mom banned them all from their house.
She and her brother then decided to cut Ned out of their lives, but they did see him on occasion at their dad’s office. 2 years after the wedding incident, Ned and his family moved to a new city, and not even her dad saw them really after that.
Fast forward to today, and she’s really up in the industry where she works. She even has her own company, and she constantly has people applying for opportunities to intern with her. A couple of days ago, her assistant said to her that someone applied for an internship, and they had the same last name as she did.
Well, it was Jack, and he was looking to intern for her. She looked at his resume, and it was up to par with interns she has had in the past.
“He did not stand out, but he was also good enough to pass the initial screening from my assistant,” she said. “Seeing his name brought all kinds of emotions up in me. I was angry and astonished at the audacity. I also could not see myself working so closely with him for any duration, so I told my assistant to remove Jack’s application from the list.”
“My family has different reactions to this. My dad said Jack was just a child back then, and it seems he’s turned out OK, so I should interview him and give him a chance. My brother said I should interview him and tell him he doesn’t get the role. My mom said I did the right thing for my mental health.”
She’s left wondering if it was wrong of her to take her nephew out of the running solely based on what he did at her cousin’s wedding as a child.
