She’s Refusing To Use Some Of Her Leftover College Fund To Help Her Sister With Special Needs

Her mom put aside a substantial college fund for her that she’s now in possession of. She went to a local school and didn’t spend much money during her college years, so now there’s a decent amount left in the fund. Her mom granted her permission to put the money toward whatever she wanted.

“My dad and Josie know about this fund,” she said. “They obviously have no access to it but are asking me to give them some of the funds in order to contribute to Melody’s care and [hire] a home nurse.”

Her dad and Josie think she should give them money from her college fund since she’s refused to help them with Melody in other ways. She told them she wouldn’t give them her money and tried reminding them that Melody is their child and not her responsibility, but they’ve grown hostile.

“My dad and Josie finally accepted my answer but told me that they would ‘remember this’ in case I am ever in a situation where I need help,” she recalled.

Now, a bunch of Josie’s family members have been contacting her and telling her she’s cold. They’ve said she’s disappointed her parents and is breaking their hearts.

Should she give her parents some money for her sister, or is she right to keep it for her future responsibilities?
