Amanda just responded with a short text following that, and he thought the issue was put to rest.
Well, that was until he saw Kelly at work, and she totally went off on him. He got accused of being a judgmental jerk. Then, Kelly even got some of his other coworkers, who are also single parents, to take her side.
Now, some of his coworkers are on his side. But they still think that she should have gone through with the date anyway, to not be rude, before telling Amanda that he simply wasn’t interested in pursuing anything further.
“My mindset at the time was I just don’t want to pay for a date and have her pay for a babysitter if I know there’s no future,” he vented.
Regardless, ever since getting such mixed feedback at work, he’s wondering whether canceling a date after finding out that Amanda had kids was really a jerky thing to do.
Do you agree that canceling the date just because Amanda had kids was a rude thing to do? Or is it better that he didn’t lead Amanda on and let her know about his perspective up front? If you were in Amanda’s shoes, what would you have preferred?
