After He Wrote A Song About His Breakup And Posted It On Social Media, His Ex-Girlfriend And Her Mom Demanded That He Take It Down

“As with most songs, parts are exaggerated for artistic effect,” he noted.

But nothing explicitly pointed to his ex-girlfriend, so he didn’t think there would be any problems.

Well, about two days ago, his ex reached out to him over text for the first time since breaking up with him. And all she messaged was, “Take down the song.”

He realizes that his ex-girlfriend may feel targeted and a bit upset after listening to the song since it is about her. And he completely understands that.

“But I still feel like this behavior is not fair to me,” he vented.

On top of that, his ex’s mother even had the nerve to reach out to his parents– sending a rude text demanding that he take the song down and accusing him of being “unfair” and “disgraceful.”

Ever since his parents got involved, he has taken the song off of his Instagram account out of respect. However, he decided to keep it up on SoundCloud. And now, he’s been left wondering whether leaving the song up on SoundCloud and writing it in the first place was justified or really did make him a jerk.

Is songwriting a healthy way to cope with breakups and other tough life events? Do you think he had a right to create a song about his feelings, as long as he isn’t badmouthing his ex in it? Should he take down the song or not? What would you do?
