Eventually, some of his friends reached out and said that even though they couldn’t relate to his feelings about not wanting to celebrate his birthday, they said they were sorry and would stop pushing for him to go against what he wanted to do.
However, some of his other friends are still angry with him. They claimed that he was being “ungrateful” and felt like he was just making excuses because he didn’t want to hang out with them. But that isn’t how he feels at all.
In his view, if his friends could act like his birthday was just a normal day and not draw attention to it, he would be thrilled to spend the day with them. But since they seem to want to make a big deal out of it, he wants to spend the day by himself instead.
Do you think he’s right to refuse to have a birthday party?
