“The first thing she said was, ‘What about people who aren’t veggie?’ And in response, I said, ‘People can’t eat veggie for one meal?’ And she just got quiet. I again tried to hype up the menu, stating, ‘Doesn’t the menu look good, though?’ I mentioned everything stated above, and she, again, was silent for a good 10 seconds and said that one of the sides just looked good and moved on,” she shared.
Oftentimes, it’s difficult to read her mother and to interpret what she might be thinking or feeling. Her mother doesn’t like confrontation, and her mother has said throughout the years that she gets distracted easily.
Because of this, she couldn’t tell if her mother was mad that she and her fiancée were going to have a vegetarian menu for their wedding.
Despite nothing else happening yet in regard to the vegetarian menu, she’s nervous that people may be upset if they want to have a meal that includes meat at the wedding.
She pointed out that their wedding had already included a bit of drama because she and her fiancée are both women.
Even though she’s not angry with her mother, and even though her mother hasn’t said anything about the menu since, she’s worried that maybe having a vegetarian menu will cause issues.
What would you do if you were in her shoes?
