Her Sister-In-Law Threw A Tantrum At Her Own Wedding, So She Left

This 27-year-old woman has been in a long-distance relationship with her husband, 38, for two years.
She lives in the UK, while her husband lives in the United States. Her husband came to see her several times, and they were saving up money so she could take a trip to see him. Unfortunately, airfare is incredibly pricey, and she has a 5-year-old son currently in school.
She didn’t meet her husband’s family in person until a week before the wedding but chatted with them on video calls.
Over the course of the two-year relationship with her husband, they got together in person about 10 times or more, and whenever he visited her, he was in the UK for two weeks or more.
Days before the wedding, she arrived in the United States and met her future in-laws, and developing a bond with them was difficult from the beginning.
“They claimed they wanted to get to know me so many times, but none of them actually tried to make conversation with me. They didn’t ask questions, and they were all talking about things I had no idea about, like sports or something I couldn’t even try to engage in,” she said.
Her husband’s family also took trips down memory lane, reminiscing about family stories that she couldn’t chime in on because she’d only just met them. All she could say were things like, “That sounds awesome” and “That’s great.”
Even though they repeatedly told her they wanted to learn more about her, they left her out of the conversations and didn’t ask her any questions about herself.
Since she suffers from intense anxiety, she took breaks to get some space away from the uncomfortable interactions with her in-laws, and they kept telling her that they couldn’t learn more about her if she kept leaving.

Most of the time, she felt as if they didn’t even notice she was there because they didn’t pay any attention to her.
Luckily, their wedding day was fantastic. After the ceremony, they drank at the reception and had a blast. However, she noticed that all of her in-laws ignored her once again.
The only guest who talked to her was one of her friends. Occasionally, the two of them went outside while her friend smoked.
She accompanied her friend outside because she didn’t want to feel lonely all by herself in the reception venue. She spent the rest of the reception with her husband.
Her friend left the reception at about 8 p.m., so she didn’t have anyone else to talk to besides her husband.
At 9 p.m., she went to change out of her dress and started taking down decorations and getting things organized so that they didn’t have to do as much work later on in the night.
At the time, her husband was hanging out with her son and his cousin, so he was busy. His sister-in-law, 48, noticed that she was taking down decorations and getting things boxed up.
“His sister screamed at me, asking if we were leaving like she was in severe shock. She screamed at me three times until she then stormed out and, well, threw a tantrum. My husband tried to go and calm her, but that didn’t work, and she continued crying,” she explained.
During the chaos, she ordered an Uber for her and her husband, so when she saw their driver had arrived, she walked up to her husband to let him know that they had to leave. Understandably, she was tired and irritated due to being yelled at by her husband’s sister.
She just wanted to get out of the situation so that she could decompress. So, she screamed at her husband that she was leaving, whether he was coming with her or not.
While she regrets how she spoke to him, she acknowledged that she was struggling to adjust to the time change, and she was exhausted.
“We left, and now his sister is mad, and her husband is mad, and he decided to delete the wedding video he took of us,” she shared.
Her brother-in-law told them he deleted the video because he thought she was childish for leaving the reception so early despite her sister-in-law being hurt that they weren’t going to stay.
While she could see her sister-in-law’s perspective, she thinks she could have handled it in a more mature way.
Her husband’s sister could have asked them privately if they would be willing to stay longer, but instead, she yelled at her and threw a fit.
What would you have done if you were in her shoes?
