Have you ever had your birthday party ruined because someone you didn’t want to show up did anyway?
One teenager recently had her 18th birthday party plans wrecked after her mom insisted she invite her own friends, including one who brought a rowdy six-year-old.
She recently turned 18 and originally had plans to enjoy a nice lunch with her closest friends as a celebration. However, her parents wanted her to do something more special, so they told her she could have a party at their house.
“I didn’t mind and told them I’d be happy to have everyone together at the party,” she said.
“It was all going well until my mom told me she also invited her friends to my birthday party. I didn’t want them there because I didn’t know them well enough, and it was just supposed to be people close to me. But she was stubborn about inviting them.”
She eventually told her mom they could set two arrival times for the party. Her mom’s friends would show up at noon, and then her friends would show up at 2:00 pm. That way, she’d have time to greet and hang out with her mom’s friends and then turn all her attention towards her friends when they arrived.
While that was a good plan, it fell apart on the day of the party. None of her mom’s friends showed up on time and didn’t start arriving until her friends were. She was annoyed but didn’t want to make a scene, so she didn’t say anything.
Unfortunately, things only got worse at the party.
“One of the guests’ daughter, [who’s] around 6 years old, wouldn’t leave me alone,” she recalled.
