Do you have someone in your life who has a nasty habit of lying to get you to do things for them? How would you feel if that person was the parent of your partner?

One man recently had to confront his girlfriend’s mom, who tends to lie about not having her wallet with her whenever they’re out shopping to get him to buy things for her.

He’s 23 and in a relationship with Kelly, who’s 25-years-old. Kelly has two moms, Gina and Stacy. Gina is in her mid-60s, and Stacy is in her early 70s.

While he gets along with Gina and Stacy for the most part, and they’re both very nice, Stacy is a notorious liar. Since he started dating Kelly, she’s complained about Stacy’s lying several times.

He would become upset because he hated seeing Kelly so stressed out and distraught over her mom’s behavior. However, little did he know the lying would start affecting him too.

“I went to run errands with Stacy last week, and she forgot her wallet, [which] I thought was a genuine mistake,” he explained.

“She’s in her 70s [and if] she’s forgetting things, it’s no big deal. I’d buy her the couple of things she needed, and she’d get [the money] back to me when she could. It wasn’t until later that day when I was alone with Kelly and recounting my day, that she stopped me and asked if Stacy had me pay for something.”

When he explained the situation to Kelly, she told him Stacy had lied about forgetting her wallet in the past so people would buy her things. Stacy then promised to pay people back but never followed through.

This was hard for him to hear, as he likes Stacy and didn’t want their relationship to become complicated because she started lying to him. Like most people, he also doesn’t like being lied to.
