For anyone who’s been in a family where the big ‘breadwinner’ lost their job or stopped making as much money for some reason, your family likely had to tighten up and be more careful about budgeting.

However, some family members have a difficult time accepting that.

One man’s family depends on his wife’s salary, which has significantly lowered over the last three years. However, she still insists on living a lavish lifestyle.

He’s 35 and has three young children with his 41-year-old wife. His wife has been at the same job for 15 years and has become very successful in her field.

Before they started a family, his wife was making more money than him, so they decided that when they had children, he would be a stay-at-home dad while she worked.

Unfortunately, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, his wife’s job was extremely affected, and her salary began to lower.

“For the last two years, we’ve been having to regularly dip into our savings account to cover house repairs and normal bills that accumulate with having a family,” he said.

“I’ve cut back many of the unnecessary family expenditures, but we’re still coming up short. I have gone over our monthly budget and expenses with her multiple times over the last two years. She continues to want to live a certain lavish lifestyle where she doesn’t need to think about what she spends.”

Before the pandemic and before he and his wife married, his wife made around half a million dollars a year. Now, she’s making around $180,000 a year and expecting them to live how they used to, even though he feels that’s impossible now.
