Are you a music lover but feel as though you’ve been listening to the same artists and songs day to day? Do you feel like you need to mix up your go-to songs or musicians and try listening to different genres?

Although I love music and feel like I have a pretty eclectic taste, I still have a long way to go and need to experiment with more genres. For instance, I hardly listen to any classical.

It can be hard to know which classical musicians you should listen to right as you try to get into classical music.

Thankfully, one content creator is helping her followers learn about and listen to more classical music.

Dianne van Dulken (@notaneuphemism) is a TikTok creator and classical music lover based in Australia. She’s created a great series on the app called “Modern to Classical Ideas,” where she gives her viewers recommendations for the classical music they should listen to based on their favorite modern musicians.

Dianne’s suggestions are great as she does a detailed analysis of modern musicians’ music and carefully considers it when comparing it to classical music.

For instance, do you love listening to Billie Eilish? If so, Dianne made an informative classical music video for you.

“If I was to describe Billie Eilish’s music, I’d probably go post-modernism,” says Dianne.

“It has that sort of repetitive, minimalistic sort of vibe, but not quite. So, for that reason, I’m going to recommend John Adams. Adams is an American composer who’s a post-minimalist, probably best known for his opera, ‘Nixon in China,’ but also for a lot of other pieces.”
