Often, when women get divorced, they can’t wait to drop their husband’s last name.

However, some women choose not to go through with that, especially if they’ve had their husband’s last name for decades and use it for work and other important things.

One woman is refusing to change her last name even though her ex-husband is marrying someone else five years after their divorce.

She’s 39 and was married to her 38-year-old husband for 12 years. They have three teenage kids and have been co-parenting since their divorce.

“My ex and I got divorced because we were young when we met and got married, and we grew apart as people,” she said.

“It was a mutual decision, and we agreed [that] our kids came first, and we have always co-parented very well.”

Things were fine between her and her ex until he started dating his 24-year-old girlfriend three years ago. Her ex’s girlfriend didn’t bond with their kids, and things became super tense between them. She and her kids used to spend birthdays and holidays with her ex-husband but eventually stopped because no one wanted to see his girlfriend.

They used to be able to spend time together as a family, but now, they can’t even sit together during the kids’ sports events.

“My ex and [his girlfriend] got engaged over Christmas, and my kids were less than thrilled, my daughter especially,” she explained.
