Unfortunately, on the day of their date, everything went downhill. For starters, it was raining pretty heavily. She decided to meet him at the ‘fancy restaurant’ and had a friend drop her off, so she got there first.
When her date walked in, he was not six foot six, but more like six foot. This was the first of many red flags that popped up, as she didn’t understand why he had to lie about his height on his profile.
“He did not say a word when he walked in; [he] just [had] glaring eyes,” she recalled.
“I attempt to make small talk, [but] he did not even talk to me. Not a ‘hello,’ ‘how are you,‘ [or] ‘nice to meet you.‘ He went up to the hostess and asked for a table for two, and we were told there [was] an hour wait. I told him I [would not] have time for that, so we walked out of the restaurant.”
When she asked her date why he didn’t make a reservation, he said it didn’t seem like the kind of place that needed one and coldly suggested they try a new restaurant.
They walked to a nearby place in the rain, and her date mumbled strange comments and questions. He asked if anyone knew where she was and where she parked her car.
“[He] dodged all my attempts at friendly banter [and] did not even walk next to me but walked either behind or in front of me. We walked over to the next restaurant, and the host told us it was a 75-minute wait,” she remembered.
“Again, walking in the rain, he started complaining more, and I told him I had to use the restroom. I ran into the nearest department store and safely got picked up by [the person] who dropped me off. Once far enough away from the restaurant, I texted him saying sorry, but this wasn’t going to work, and wished him the best of luck.”
By the time she got home, her date had blocked her on every platform they connected through, including the dating app. Now, she’s wondering if she did something bad by leaving her date without warning.
Did she do anything wrong, or was she right to play things safe and leave her date?
