She Left Her Sister’s Wedding Early After The Maid Of Honor Joked About Her Being The “Family Screw Up” During A Speech And Humiliated Her

“It was emotional and all, but then she made a joke about how I was the ‘family screw-up’ who finally managed to do something right by not messing up my bridesmaid duties. Everyone laughed, but I didn’t find it funny.”

She tried to stay calm and composed, but the ‘joke’ was so hurtful that she started to cry and walked out of the reception. Her sister, the bride, followed her and asked what was wrong.

Not wanting to cause a scene, she simply said she was offended by her friend’s speech, but unfortunately, her sister dismissed her feelings.

“She said it was just a joke and [that her friend] meant nothing bad,” she said.

“I tried to go back inside, but I just couldn’t. I ended up leaving the wedding early. My parents understood why I was upset, but my sister was angry with me. I do feel terrible for leaving, but I also feel like I had the right to feel hurt and humiliated.”

Should she apologize to her sister for leaving her wedding early, or should her sister apologize?
