“He reassured me that he wouldn’t, [but] for the past two weeks or so, Gary has been working later than usual,” she explained.
“I even overheard him telling a friend in our neighborhood that he needed to work longer hours because he was about to make a major purchase.”
She felt like Gary was keeping something from her, and she became frustrated. So, one night, she logged onto Gary’s laptop and saw that he made a wire transfer for $45,000. Then, she checked his messages between his brothers and found out that they were going in on $105,000 for his parents.
She was extremely upset, as she couldn’t understand why he would want to get his parents a car that expensive with a baby on the way and why he would keep this a secret from her.
That evening, when Gary returned home from work, she confronted him, told him he was being irresponsible, and asked him to cancel the wire transfer.
Gary became defensive, telling her they had plenty of money in the bank for any baby-related emergencies and that he’d been working overtime to afford this car for his parents.
They argued back and forth for a while, with her being angry he would spend so much money on his parents and him being angry that she invaded his privacy by going on his computer. She then told him that because he chose to spend that much money without consulting her about it, he had lost the privilege to help name their daughter.
“He got frustrated by this and just said I was being ‘too much,’ so we slept separately last night,” she added.
“We have also not spoken since. I personally think he’s being too stubborn, but my best friend thinks I’m too harsh.”
Was she being too harsh with Gary, or was she right to be angry?
