This Mom’s Refreshing And Honest Post About Mom-Shaming Is Going Viral For All The Right Reasons

Unfortunately, mom-shaming really is everywhere and there is always someone there on the internet who is more than happy to pick apart what you do (or don’t do) with your kids.

This mom’s refreshing and honest post about mom-shaming is going viral for all the right reasons.

Caitlin Fladager is a mental health advocate, writer, and mom who is not giving any more attention to mom-shamers, and she’s getting real about what they pick her apart for.

In a post on Instagram, Caitlin shared a photo of her children eating McDonald’s, along with:

“What’s something you let your kids do that has been “mom-shamed”?”

“Sometimes I make my kids awesome dinners and do fun activities with them, but some days I get them McDonald’s and let them watch a lot of TV (YouTube).”

“What’s something you let your kids do that has been “mom-shamed”?”

“I want to celebrate all we do for our kids, even the “frowned upon” things. We’re all doing the best we can!”

Quite a few moms were quick to weigh in on Caitlin’s post and share what they get attacked for, and some of them are just mind-boggling.

“Not having matching socks on my kids,” one mom weighed in with what she gets shamed for, and honestly I couldn’t believe this one.

“Good Lord, socks don’t need to match, so long as they’ve got something on their feet should be what matters.”

“Also, them being “behind” my 7-year-old is not ready to be taken off training wheels, I’m not going to force her to do something she isn’t comfortable with and my son just started tying his shoes at 8.”

“They are both very sensitive children and they both beat themselves us no matter how much praise they receive and if I can help them by allowing them to do things at their comfortable pace, so be it.”

“We don’t force them to fit the molds, we challenge them to change the molds in their own time and way.”

“I leave the TV on all day for background noise,” another mom added.

“I get told they watch too much but I’m pretty sure they play the whole day and watch it the odd time here and there.”

A third mom commented with, “Video games. Everyone, even my own family, will shame me on it. They act like I let my son just play on it every waking moment, which is not the case.”

No matter what, just do what’s best for you and your kids and don’t pay any mind to the other moms that are going to shame you for it!
