A Seventeen Year Old Went Viral On TikTok After Sharing The Hate She Received From Adults Over Her Homecoming Dress

From there, the comments only continued. Some said that the dress was ridiculous; others urged Brumfield to “leave some stuff to the imagination.”

The dress is by no means inappropriate and is in tune with fashion standards today. Comments like these just go to show how quickly Facebook can turn into a rabbit hole for bullying. Even if the dress was inappropriate, why is it anyone else’s place to pass judgments?

Brumfield’s viral TikTok, which displayed the homecoming photos and the consequential Facebook comments, received an outpouring of love.

It gained over eleven million views and over two million likes on the platform. Mikayla Nogueira, a famous TikTok star and makeup artist, commented, “What is wrong with people??? UGH. You looked STUNNING.”

In a follow-up video, Brumfield showed how she stood up for herself against the horrific comment that Rhonda Flesner made. Brumfield started, “Hey! I’m the seventeen-year-old in that picture that you, a grown woman, are talking about.”

She went on to explain that the dress was fingertip length, parent-approved and that she was even wearing shorts underneath.

“I hold myself to a very high standard because of my sport and I’m a pageant girl as well,” she said, “I hope you have a nice day and I hope you don’t call yourself a Christian when you’re calling a seventeen-year-old a tramp.”

Again, Brumfield received more support on her second TikTok. Her followers even rushed to find Rhonda Flesner on Facebook just to give her a piece of their minds.

It’s safe to say that Brumfield stood up for herself and put the Facebook bullies in their place. Still, teenagers should never be put in this position in the first place. Brumfield looked beautiful and, most importantly, happy- which is all that should have mattered.
