She Picked Her Son Up From Kindergarten, Took Her Own Life, And Left A Disturbing Note Behind But Her Son Hasn’t Been Seen Since
Aurora, Colorado. May 11th, 2011 started out like any other day for 6-year-old Timmothy Pitzen, who lived in Aurora along with his family.
The outgoing and cheerful little kindergartener had his Spider-Man backpack with him when his dad Jim took him to school that morning.
Jim drove Timmothy from their home in Aurora to Greenman Elementary School. He dropped his son off, got back into his car, and didn’t think twice about it.
There was just no way for Jim to know that Timmothy wouldn’t be coming home after school was done that day.

Not long after Jim had left Timmothy at Greenman Elementary School, his wife (and Timmothy’s mom) Amber Fry-Pitzen arrived to take Timmothy out of his classroom.
Amber got there about half an hour after Timmothy was dropped off by Jim. She told the school there was some kind of emergency happening in their family, and that’s why she had to take Timmothy out of class.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., Amber and Timmothy leave together. When school had ended for the day, Jim showed up to get Timmothy.
He couldn’t believe what the school told him.

Why would his wife take Timmothy without telling him? The family emergency Amber explained as the reason she needed to pick their son turned out to be a lie.
So where had the two of them gone?

Jim checked with Amber’s job and she wasn’t at work. He checked the home they shared together; no sign of them.
Jim ended up reporting Timmothy and Amber as missing to police the next morning after they never came home.
Amber had a cellphone which Jim had called time and again, but she never picked up. He called their friends. He called their loved ones.
He asked everyone he could think of if they knew where Timmothy and Amber went, but nobody had any answers for him.

Right after Amber had picked Timmothy up from school, she took her 2004 Ford Expedition to a local auto shop to be serviced.
She and Timmothy hitched a ride to Brookfield Zoo with one of the people who worked for the auto shop while they waited for the work on the car to be completed.
That afternoon, they both made it back to the shop, got in the car, and left. Amber drove to a resort, and she and Timmothy stayed there for the evening.
The next day, Amber drove with her son out of state. They ended up going to the Kalahari Resort, which is located in Wisconsin. It’s the largest convention center and indoor waterpark in the entire state.
Security cameras captured Timmothy and Amber while they were at the resort. Hours later, Amber placed a few calls to their family members, explaining they were not in any kind of danger. She never revealed where they were, what she had in mind, or when they would come back home though.
Amber would be found dead the next morning, and Timmothy would still be missing.

When the cleaning staff at Rockford Inn in Illinois entered one of their rooms on Saturday, May 14th, they were horrified at what they found.
Amber was dead inside. She had taken antihistamines, then used a knife to slit her wrists and throat. She had bled out in the rented room.

The only clues that Amber left behind were three different notes that she had written. One was found along with her in the room, while two were mailed to some of her loved ones.
What all of the notes contained haven’t been entirely released to the public, but we do know they said that Timmothy was alright.
The most disturbing part of one of them was that Amber outlined the fact that nobody would ever be able to locate Timmothy.
It’s been 9 years since this happened, and she was right. Timmothy is still missing to this day. Jim, (along with Amber’s family) sincerely believes Timmothy is alive and well out there, wherever that may be.
It was well-known to Amber’s family that she had struggled with depression and even tried taking her own life before, but they maintain she never would have done a single thing to hurt her only child. Her obituary even reads that she is survived by her husband and son.
Although Amy’s body was recovered from the rented room, her cellphone was never found. Aside from Timmothy and her phone being missing, some of Timmothy’s things like his Spider-Man backpack he took to school that day and some toys were also not there.

Last year, a young man named Brian Michael Rini in Kentucky insisted he was Timmothy, but his whole story turned out to be made up. He was charged with lying to investigators and identity theft.
Brian accepted a plea deal and was handed a sentence of 2 years behind bars for aggravated identity theft.
More recently, a video on YouTube caught the eye of a number of people on the internet who believed a young boy singing in the video was Timmothy. It turns out that was a false lead.
In a press release dated August 14th of last year, the Aurora Police Department said, “The Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Division has received numerous telephone calls and social media messages regarding an online video that appears to resemble missing boy Timmothy Pitzen.”
“The video, posted on YouTube, shows a boy in front of colored backdrop singing along to the song Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye.”
“Detectives have investigated the video and have determined the boy in the video is not Timmothy Pitzen. We appreciate the community’s assistance and tips throughout this case.”
“If you have any information on the whereabouts of Timmothy Pitzen, please call the Timmothy Pitzen Tip Line at 630-256-5516 or email [email protected].”
