This Little Corgi Has A Mass On His Liver
Grand Rapids, Michigan. Lovely little Bandit is doing his absolute best to fight off a tumor that could turn out to be cancer.
And his owners, Laura Hogg and Fox Conlon, are raising money to expand the possibilities for Bandit as much as possible.
Bandit has always been a healthy and lively puppy to Laura and Fox. However, he started to act weirdly on a morning in March and was taken to the hospital immediately.
After the first X-ray examination, the vet informed the owners that Bandit had internal bleeding in his abdomen.
The hospital then took two ultrasound exams to confirm that they had found a mass on Bandit’s liver, which was likely the source of bleeding.
“They told us that the mass is possibly a hemangiosarcoma, a potentially aggressive tumor that would need to be removed to stop the bleeding,” Laura wrote.
The news shocked Laura and Fox as Bandit had never shown any signs of illness or even discomfort.
Laura stated that Bandit always receives regular health checkups, and the numbers are always standard. In fact, before his diagnosis in March, Bandit had just received another checkup in December 2021, and the results were still all healthy.

“Also, just one hour before he started acting strange, he was still bouncing around and was full of energy!” Laura wrote.
Laura updated her post on March 28, saying that Bandit’s condition has improved a little. At least the internal bleeding had stopped, which was a huge relief to them. However, after another scan of Bandit’s body, the vet informed the family that “the mass was by no means a slam dunk for cancer.”
“We had been told by the emergency vet that there was at least 75% chance that the mass was a type of aggressive tumor and was likely metastasized already,” the update post read. “In this case, we have only months even with surgical intervention.”
Although the news was devastating, Laura and Fox remain hopeful as Bandit’s vet explained that it is not unusual for dogs like Bandit to develop benign tumors at their age. Or the mass could be other types that do not come with a death sentence.
Grateful to know that they still have some extra time to buy for Bandit, Laura and Fox also updated that Bandit is, for now, back to his usual self. He would cuddle and kiss his favorite people and play with his toys, just like in old times.
Laura and Fox had decided to set their fundraising goal to as minimal as possible. They thanked all the people who have contributed to Bandit’s health expenses in the post. Although the costs are expected to pile up, they still try to cover the expenses independently. The fund is set for a $4000 goal and has reached $2295 with 51 donors.
