She Filmed Her Breakup And Kept The Video, Hoping That One Day She Could Look Back And Laugh About It Even Though She Was Certainly Crying At The Time
For most couples, nothing is worse than facing a breakup. But one TikTok user, @christianna_burkee, took the pain of breakups to a whole new level: by filming hers.
After being with the same partner for a while, Christianna faced a dead end. Like many people in a relationship, she wanted to better understand “what direction we’re going.”
All decked out in a summery floral shirt with a high bun and Ray-Ban-style aviator sunglasses; she confidently strode around the yard of her boyfriend’s house with the determination to set their relationship on the right path.
“I am in love with him,” she said. “He has had walls go up, and we have to figure out what we’re going to do.”
While the situation had the potential to go south quickly, as it turned out to do in the end, there is no denying Christianna’s positive spirit in the hope of better things to come.
Filming her situation wasn’t the shock factor, as she always intended to share her experience with TikTok.
“So I thought it would be fun to document the before and after,” she said.
Still, she recognized the possibility that she may be too hopeful.

“At the end of this video, I will either be happily in a relationship or miserably heartbroken. Stay tuned,” she told viewers in a tone of voice that mocked the transcontinental accent of old-Hollywood actors and actresses.
Rather, it turned out to be the way in which her relationship came to a halt that seemed to shock Christianna the most. After a comical jump cut, she appears very different from the beginning. She is sitting on the floor: staring off into space, her hair in tatters and her eyes puffy and swollen from crying.
With a very different attitude from her optimism earlier on, she seems distressed by the result– wanting to hide from it all.
“I think I’m just going to become a goat–like an actual goat,” she said in a congested voice as tears rolled down her cheeks. “I’m just going to become a goat and just live in the mountains. And I’m going to be a lesbian goat too–I won’t even be a straight goat.”
In a duet with her own post, Christianna is clearly laughing after the fact at her breakup video, captioning it, “Don’t take life so seriously. I literally kept that video because I knew one day I’d laugh.”
Though laughter may now be her response, her initial reaction was a far cry from that. Breakups can be hard to deal with and unexpected at times. But just remember this one lesson: if you’re going to break up, film it and put it on TikTok because we all want to see it too.
