His Son Refused To Do A Mother-Son Dance With His New Wife, So He Actually Got Up And Left The Wedding

This man has a son named Jordan, who is now 27-years-old. But, back when his son was just 13, his ex-wife– Jordan’s mother– sadly passed away.
So, about three years later, he dipped his toe back into the dating pool and met a woman named Natalie. And at that point, Natalie also entered his son’s life.
It soon became clear, though, that Jordan never really considered Natalie to be his mother.
Instead, he claims that his son always refused to let Natalie get close. Jordan also reportedly “shut down” any attempt Natalie made to have a close stepmom-stepson relationship.
So, just a few months after he got remarried to Natalie, his son actually moved out and decided to live with his sister– Jordan’s aunt.
Now, as the years passed by, Jordan and Natalie did start to reconcile their relationship. He claims that his wife and son even started seeing each other more often, too.
Plus, this past year, Jordan got engaged– and both he and Natalie were invited to celebrate the big event.
Jordan’s wedding just took place a few days ago, though, and it did not go as smoothly as he had hoped.
Upon arriving, he noticed that the wedding’s atmosphere was beautiful, and everything went great for a while.

But that was until later when he found out that Jordan refused to participate in a mother-son dance with Natalie.
Instead, his son apparently opted to do the dance with his sister– Jordan’s aunt. And after Natalie informed him of that, he apparently could not help but feel “irritated” and “quite upset.”
Rather than confronting Jordan about the situation and trying to talk it over, though, he decided to just ditch the event altogether. In fact, he and Natalie just got up and walked out.
Obviously, though, other members of his family saw him and his wife leave. So, he was fielding calls from them afterward regarding what happened.
His son also called him later, too, to ask why he had left. And at that point, he claimed to have just told Jordan why he did it.
According to him, Jordan was outraged– claiming that it was his wedding and that his aunt had practically been a mother to him.
“He also said that Natalie should not expect ‘special treatment,'” he added.
He just did not understand what Jordan was talking about, though, and told his son that it was a tradition– not special treatment.
On top of that, he accused his son of hurting Natalies feelings “for no reason other than the sake of being malicious.”
Since then, Jordan has been super offended and accused him of both causing a scene and ruining the big day.
The rest of his family, too, has taken his son’s side. In fact, they are claiming that he should have never left the wedding, no matter what.
So now, with much of his family up in arms, he has been left wondering if leaving his son’s wedding because his wife did not get a mother-son dance was a seriously jerky thing to do.
Why do you think he expected Jordan and Natalie to do a mother-son dance, given their history and the fact that he had never heard about the dance prior to the event? Do you think it makes sense why Jordan would pick his aunt? Are genuine relationships more important than supposed “traditions?” Did he handle this situation the wrong way by leaving?
