There were threats that white men would destroy the Mohave tribe if they did not release Olive. Although many members of the tribe expressed their love for her, Olive was released and taken to California.
In 1865, Olive married a cattleman named John B. Fairchild. They moved to Sherman, Texas, where Olive did lots of charity work, specifically in orphanages.
The couple adopted a little girl and named her Mary Elizabeth. Olive passed away after having a heart attack in 1903. She was 65-years-old.
