When she confronted the bride about why there were children at what was supposed to be a child-free wedding, she smiled and said that she knew the girls would be well-behaved, “unlike others.”
She took this as a passive-aggressive insult towards her son and started feeling like he was intentionally excluded from the wedding.
When she asked her sister-in-law about it, she said she had no idea the wedding was meant to be child-free since she knew her daughters would be in it.
After some back and forth, her sister-in-law told her that her son wouldn’t have been able to behave at the wedding and that maybe she should teach him how to behave in public. That’s when she fired back, calling her sister-in-law a “dictator mom,” accusing her of abusing her daughters.
After the argument, her sister-in-law took her daughters and left the wedding.
“Others sided with her, calling me jealous because her daughters are well-behaved and sweet while no one can stand my son,” she added. “Everyone agreed, and no one defended me or my son.”
Since that day, she’s received messages from family members who believe she needs to apologize for what she said. Her husband agrees and is ready to teach their son better manners. Yet, she still stands by what she said, thinking it was necessary for her sister-in-law to hear.
