In 2021, this 22-year-old woman’s father passed away when he was only in his fifties. And at the time, he had been in a long-term relationship with his girlfriend.

“And they were never married and were not common law married due to the fact that they didn’t live together until about four months before his passing,” she explained.

But, several years before her father’s passing, she and her brother, who is 24, began living on their own. That meant her dad was able to move his girlfriend and his girlfriend’s own children in– who are 23 and 27– without putting any strain on her and her brother.

However, once her father passed away, it was obviously just his girlfriend and his girlfriend’s children living in his house. And since her father didn’t have a will, all of his belongings and the property were to be split between herself and her brother.

Still, she and her brother opted to allow them to continue living there as long as all of the bills were paid.

Even after doing that, though, her father’s girlfriend did not want her or her brother to touch any of their father’s belongings. In fact, the girlfriend even refused to just let them in the house.

At one point, the basement also had some flooding issues, and she and her brother offered to help fix it. Her father’s girlfriend told her everything was under control, though, even when it wasn’t.

So, the basement wound up being much worse than she was told. There was mold growing on all of the walls, and a bunch of her father’s belongings got ruined. Yet, her father’s girlfriend did not show any remorse.

“She ended up changing the locks on the house and moving out without telling us,” she revealed.

“She also took a lot of my father’s possessions without telling us.”

Quite frankly, though, that was not even the worst part. Instead, there were actually articles about her father’s death being posted online, listing the girlfriend’s children as her father’s kids.

And honestly, it was very hurtful for her to see someone else being called her father’s daughter rather than her.

Still, she opted not to say anything until a new article came out recently. At that point, she just couldn’t hold her tongue any longer– especially because people kept reposting and sharing the article.

So, she decided to post a long and heartfelt message on social media revealing how her father’s girlfriend and the girlfriend’s family had both destroyed her father’s home and stolen all of his belongings while claiming to be his true family.

“I do not want to take away how much someone may have loved and cared for my father, but to claim him as your own father is incredibly disrespectful after the damage you have caused to his family,” the post read.

“You refused to help with the basement and let his prized possessions get ruined. Things that I could have remembered my father by are now ruined. Please do not speak on my father’s behalf.”

Now, even though her father’s girlfriend and the kids had blocked her on social media, they wound up seeing her post. And afterward, they freaked out on her.

She got accused of being “disgusting” and was told she should have spoken to them privately first.

But she pointed out how that was impossible since everyone had blocked her. Plus, she explained her reasoning for posting online.

“I have done everything I could to help them while they just took and took from me,” she vented.

She also admitted to realizing that the post might have been harsh and claimed she never wanted to start Facebook drama– because, honestly, she thinks it’s trashy.

At the end of the day, though, she knows everything she said was true. And she is just sick and tired of her father’s girlfriend spinning the narrative.

Still, in the wake of the backlash, she has been left wondering whether calling out her deceased father’s girlfriend on Facebook was the wrong thing to do or not.

Did she have a right to call out her father’s girlfriend online? Or should she have handled this some other way? How would you have felt in her shoes? Would you have done the same?
